This is a powerful, fascinating film which has all of the rich back-story and drama to keep your attention fixed on the characters and the issues they represented, until the final credits.
I must admit that I got a little bored half way through the book, as the story seems to go on and on. Given that the vast majority of the story is set in a hospital (in London), it's not bad. I really enjoyed the beginning scenes on the school bus, where we learn about the mouth breathers, the bullies, and the high school social hierarchy. I love reading mostly romantic ones but usually just ones that take my interest . Vin Diesel trades in the fast cars for poor dramatic action. It was fun, suspenseful, and entertaining to read. It took me a while to remember who was who as there are a fair number of characters involved but definitely an entertaining read although after reading the Author's 'In Plain Sight' I didn't find this as interesting. I also liked the multimedia aspect of the book. Quote that I remember from this book... "It takes a tragedy to make one appreciate life, for what would life be like without friendship.". I love this.
in NYC, the City's top-rated public school for gifted teens (which he had attended) in order to get a truly accurate perspective on some of the most difficult issues and challenges faced by bright young people - and their families - in our society. This is a long story but very interesting to read.
I felt very satisfied when the loose ends were all tied up thoroughly at the end of the book (except for those leading to the sequel of course). The teens struggle to control their powers whilst fighting against an outside force that seems to have taken over the hospital where they are trying to get better. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This is a must view for mexican-Americans and those interested in civil rights. It somehow managed to keep me reading through to the end. I was seriously put off this book by the appalling typography which kept spoiling the flow of the read. I enjoyed this book and it held my attention in the main. Fourteen-year-old Samantha (Sam) Blake and twin brother James attend South Ealing Comprehensive School in West London, England. Most stories give a pretense of being different than others but conclude almost the same way.
I picked up the book seeking answers to today's pressure to succeed, yet found myself pierced by very raw human emotions. Good read, but found it all a little unbelievable. This was a great book. Without wanting to spoil it, personally I could not quite believe that all four characters who feature in the story, could possibly reach a crisis in their lives, all at the same time and in the same week, however much they had been cruising for a bruising from page one! As it turns out, this book and my later research agree that the kids work hard, but they really are good to one another -- they are all in it together. He opted to portray the irresponsible sexual conduct of a few deviant, immature students who hardly represent the norm in Chapter 4, entitled, "Cuddle, Puddle, Muddle," rather than the thousands of students who forego an active social life to study in hopes of gaining admissions into a coveted Ivy League university. I've only seen about 30 American Experience episodes or movies, but this is one of the best. And like "Brown", this film resonates with the same racial issues that we continue to confront today.
