The town itself, particularly around the seafront, is like many of the resort towns in South Devon, a classic of Regency and early Victorian style. Sorry, there are no tours or activities available to book online for the date(s) you selected. Sadly it is an unfortunate reflection in this 'dog' friendly resort that irresponsible dog owners who not only let their pooches run free off a lead on the beach and Warren (although a sign clearly states the need for a lead). Whether this is because of the time of year I don't know but it didn't make us want to hang around. The planned picnic on the Warren had to be abandoned due to the widespread dollops of dog excrement (in and out of bags),,which is everywhere and straying unleashed dogs on this beautiful spotWhat a shame we couldn't picnic or let the children play here because of the muck, so headed off to Teignmouth instead.
If you have been into Dawlish town you may have seen our unofficial emblem, the Black Swan, paddling up and down the brook that runs through the centre of the town. Over the years they have been living happily with a few new swans brought in occasionally to keep up the numbers.

Great to walk along the sea wall,very breezy,so close to the railway track ,lovely views of the bay,reminds me of my childhood when I lived in Dawlish, beautifull place.

There is a local bus, the 186, which links the town centre, hospital and Sainsbury's to the main housing areas. I stopped off with my son and we parked right near the railway line then took a walk over the bridge and across to the beach.The views are lovely and my son enjoyed skimming stones on the beach. This is a lovely walk from dawlish warren to dawlish with the railway running on one side and the sea on the other although you can get wet if the tide is in ! My Mum had been to Dawlish before and there is a lovely shop called Gay's Creamery which sell the best Ice-Cream and for £2.40 you can have a Ice-Cream with Clotted, Dawlish Railway Station Station Road, Dawlish EX7 9PJ England. The Strand (1803-1809), although mostly converted to shops, remains impressive. more. Climate. more. Dawlish is a fascinating little regency resort town huddled attractively between steep surrounding hills. read more, this was such a nice place to visit so pretty plenty to do down there some friends of ours told us that they had black swans so went to find them it was true just amazing to see them on the lake with there babys sat had cream tea taking in the views thinking of going back down there again next year you must see this place if you have not been there before the young chidren woud love it they also hve a railway park every think for all age groups night life his beautifull places to have a nice drink somethink to eat or just go for a romantic stroll.
