A graphic novel about the media? Another incredibly fascinating book I'd never heard of until you introduced it to me! It's the sort of topic I could stand to read and know more about. Back then she read "superhero comics, Superman first, then superheroes with problems (from Marvel) and even the occasional Archie." recently discovered Garfield, both books and tv episodes, and just last week, was howling over an episode titled "If you heard it on TV, it must be true". This is a perfect example of how graphic novels are serious stuff. That is to say, we regard our beliefs as norms and reject difference. So every time you see something in the media you'll know where it came from, you'll be able to see the antecedents and maybe peer ahead to the next phase.

It's always important to stay aware. I think there is virtually no way for one to be totally unaffected by the media, though some may really try. "I tried to write the book in a way that if you didn't care about the media as a subject, you'd care by the end of the book because you'd understand the stakes," Gladstone says. Fascinating. I think it's important for us to be informed media consumers - I know people who will complain about what's on TV and when I tell them to turn it off, they always give me a funny look. Our society is based on moral rules and laws which regulate our behaviors in different aspects morally and legally.
