These would have been Noldorin smiths who previously worked in Eregion (where the Elves forged the Rings of Power) before it was destroyed by Sauron.

I really like this question, and frankly I think it's a clear answer.

For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. The BLF/Anduril version uses 5000K LH351Ds w/90+ CRI. One of the two but I think it was Mormegil. Also, in the movies Aragorn could stop an attack from one of the cursed spirits. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts.

The Glamdring is pretty decent, but Narsil, as well as Anduril (the sword) are a bit unbalanced.

About Angrist it was said that "iron it would cleave as if it were green wood", and this was shown when Beren used it to cut a Silmaril from Morgoth's iron crown.

The hard part is narrowing down when Telchar made Narsil in the first age. So valyrian steel swords are useful for thrusting atacks specially I guess. Personally, I'd take the great sword Resounding over both of them, but that's just me.

—J.R.R. IMHO.

Dawn is actually forged from a meteorite I believe.

A part from that, Anduril was magically forged by elves, although I'm not sure if it adds any benefits.

I think? Thanks for the A2A Pravar Ag. I've never thought about it, but seeing it summarised like that makes it obvious that Andúril is the best weapon to combat Sauron with. (I'd prefer 4000K but nothing's perfect) Anduril is leagues better than Narsil just because you don't have to guess if the light is going to ramp up or down when you hold the button while it's already on. Narsil was a longsword wielded by King Elendil during the War of the Last Alliance, and used by his son, Isildur, to cut the One Ring from Sauron's hand during the final battle of that war.
I think the movie Anduril has gold letters, see poster photo at, "We are still making the remainder of the limited/John Howe version.".

It features Aragorn from JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy and Jon Snow from George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. Yes, I'm assuming they are still making and shipping them to places that have ordered them, But those places have Over Ordered and right now are waiting to receive them so they can ship them to people they have pre-sold them to. I think the cursed black sword was Mormegil. We know virtually nothing about Dawn short of the fact that it was forged from a meteorite and was pale as milk.

Valyrian steel is just a very durable, lighter version of steel, but I think that a sword that light will not let a fencer to strike blows as powerful as a heavy sword will do.

What does it mean for a sword to be “better” than another? I'd take a real life sword over any of them any day. The black one made outta a metorite?

While Narsil wasn't described in detail, other weapons made by Telchar are, specifically the knife Angrist. I thought if someone other than Aragorn tries to wield it, they die. (Assume that you would have the expertise needed to use it.)

What was the name of Turin Turambar's sowrd? :angel1: Nevertheless, Narsil and Anduril are beautiful swords and they all look very fetching on my living room walls, even the Orc sword! I think I'd like to have the Witchking's sword, just for sheer looks. Come join our discussions, post your own battles and kick some ass! The Shards of Narsil were one of the heirlooms of the Kings of Arnor, and after the Northern Kingdom was destroyed they remained an heirloom of the Rangers of the North. The black one made outta a metorite? Narsil would presumably be of similar quality. Glamdring is just about right for a bastard sword, whereas the Witch King's sword and the other one are definately two-handed. My sister has replicas of the movie models of all three swords, plus sting (godawful waste of money if you ask me, but I digress). A very simple vs. debate. That's a total of 6459 years. You are indeed where you belong.

We don’t have much in the way of information about either blade. The 2nd Age lasted 3441 years, and the Council of Elrond (when Narsil was reforged into Anduril) occured in year 3018 of the 3rd Age. And Aragorn gave it a new name and called it Andúril, Flame of the West." * Forging: * * Narsil was forged by Telchar of Nogrod, the most famous dwarf smith of the First Age. The shards of Narsil are reforged by the Elves, and into Aragorn’s hands is given a new sword – Anduril, the Flame of the West.

My sister has replicas of the movie models of all three swords, plus sting (godawful waste of money if you ask me, but I digress).

We've never seen it in action, so it's legitimately impossible to judge it.

1. The shards of Narsils were reforged into Andúril by the Elves in Rivendell.

I would say Anduril > meteorite forged sword, Ah shit that's right yeah, I couldn't have been more wrong then haha. Clean white, noon sunlight-tinted beam that renders colors much more accurately. At the core of all our products is Lattice, an AI software backbone that uses sensor fusion, machine learning, and mesh networking to integrate real-time data from Anduril hardware and third-party systems into a single, autonomous operating picture. Which sword from LotR would you prefer to have in a fight vs. the forces of Mordor?

That's the one for me! I'll take the one with the higher grade steel. Andúril, also called the Flame of the West, was the sword which was reforged from the shards of Narsil. Narsil was broken when Elendil was killed by Sauron, but even broken it was able to cut the Ring off Sauron's finger. It was made by a dwarf, remade by elves and wielded by Men. I don't know anything about Dawn, but here's what I know about Andúril: Andúril was forged from the shards of Elendil's sword Narsil. Tolkien. Wasn't Morgoth like 100 feet tall or something at the time he was using Grond? Two great leaders fight for superiority! It feels great, and I think has great balance.

While Narsil wasn't described in detail, other weapons made by Telchar are, specifically the knife Angrist.

It was later reforged into Andúril, and would become the sword of Aragorn II Elessar. Andúril is not explicitly stated to be magical but it's very likely that it was; Elven-made weapons often are and Andúril was inscribed with many runes which may be indicative of spells upon the sword. I may be wrong, but I am glad someone connected the LOTR and the GoT in a very sensible question. (he used to be bigger when he was known as Melkor) . That's magical..

Both are extremely good swords with equally great backgrounds/abilities, I just like the name better. (After the War of the Last Alliance, the shards of Narsil had been taken to Rivendell.) Aragorn rises to lead Middle-earth, Anduril in hand, and bring them out of the shadow and into a future free from Sauron’s tyranny as the new king of Gondor. Sword of morning is title of knight who wields the sword Dawn. Aragorn VS Jon Snow is the 8th episode of Darth_Mallen's Death Battle. I'm not sure if it's the sword of morning or mourning. It was not reforged until the War of the Ring at the end of the Third Age in Rivendell as Andúril , the "Flame of the West", for Aragorn , who was by that time the Chieftain of the Dúnedain and heir of Isildur. Anduril may have an impressive lineage, but Glamdring was the sword of the high king of Gondolin, that's very impressive. I'm thinking how is that even remotely fair?

We know he made the Dragon-Helm sometime after Glaurung appeared in year 260 of the 1st Age. Narsil was actually far older than Elendil, having been made in the First Age by the renowned Dwarven smith Telchar. Which sword from LotR would you prefer to have in a fight vs. the forces of Mordor? Narsil was actually far older than Elendil, having been made in the First Age by the renowned Dwarven smith Telchar. I'd go for a hand-and-a-half sword over a double.
Lets keep it to swords from Middle Earth, please. (Assume that you would have the expertise needed to use it.).

It symbolizes the alliance of the three children of Eru. Now personally, I would pick Glamdring. And the thing as a blade just over 39 inches long, atleast the movie one.

Additionally Andúril's scabbard, made by the Elves in Lothlórien, was specifically enchanted so that Andúril would not be stained or broken.
